Modified Bitumen Roofing, commonly known as “torch on roofing”, was born out of the desire to improve bitumen’s waterproofing characteristics by adding rubber (SBS) to the bitumen.
A SBS blend is more elastic than bitumen. The blend performs better when a roof is exposed to significant increases or decreases in ambient temperature over short periods in time.
The heat of a torch or hot asphalt is used to fuse layers of SBS membranes together creating the roof system. Alternatively, adhesives or more expensive self-adhered membranes are used to adhere the layers together.
Westcoast Roofing Systems is proud to be an Approved Applicator for the industry-leading SBS manufacturer, Siplast.
Our workers undergo ongoing training and skill development to ensure that each roof is installed to Siplast’s specifications. Siplast, upon inspection of Westcoast’s work, will warranty any workmanship defects as well as material defects.
